Arriving in good time
During the festive season in December, traffic tends to get heavily congested in Ljubljana. Visitors are advised to leave home earlier than usual to avoid arriving late.
We are committed to preventing overgeneration, reuse, separate collection and disposal of waste. We follow the guidelines for separate collection of waste in biodegradable bags and thereby a reduction in residual waste, which also lowers charges for utilities (refuse collection, waste management, etc.). Waste separation bins have been installed on all Cankarjev dom premises. In October 2023, Cankarjev dom installed a refilling station for cleaning agents. In doing so, we are phasing out single-use plastics and reducing the amount of packaging waste.
We are delighted by the fact that our partners are separating the waste generated in an event production, and are putting a great deal of effort into minimising our carbon footprint. At events and receptions, our catering partners limit the use of single-use plastics, serve drinking tap water, use reusable utensils, compost and recycle. We are thus pooling our efforts to stem the generation of excessive waste. Our exhibitors are committed to using sustainable and biodegradable materials, reusing or recycling waste and other alternative solutions.
Our PR department annually commissions several large-format banners with the aim of promoting events. Rather than disposing of them, we have decided to give them a new lease on life. In 2016, we started making cushions from old banners under the motto "Novo/noro življenje star'ga plakata" (Crazy/New Life of an Old Banner). The cushions became a permanent feature at events taking place in the nearby park for sitting comfortably on the grass in the shade of our spreading centuries-old trees.
